how much horsepower can u make with a stock bottomend

In the case of engine life first it has to be framed as what is the expected duty life as all power levels have a certain life span. Beyond that I think torque is a more accurate measurement as we'll as the RPM it peaks at. Two 500 HP engines one with 1300 ftlb ta at a much lower RPM peak vs a 500 with a 800 ftlb is going to vary greatly in cylinder pressure and torsional forces and stresses. Still this is but a rough guide

I just drove to Ohio and back with my set up, race it as often as I can and dont drive real "easy". LOL. In my opinion it is all luck of the draw, some take it some don't, one could have the exact same set up on it as another and One could let go and one could survive for a while. I'm not real worried about mine as it is not my main mode of transportation, if yours is your primary vehicle to your job I would think about getting a cheap "beater" or leaving it close to stock.

Got a 112.15 mph at 6800lbs Yesterday. Bout 650 calc. says. pushed some coolant out of degass during the run tho :doh:

I brought up torque curves because I don't think luck has as much to do with it.

When I made my dyno run this summer, another truck hit 1 hp more than me, but more than 100 ft/lbs of torque. Can you guess which one (mine or his) has higher cylinder pressures to make that happen?

Watching over the years of failure after failure. 6.0's and 6.4's don't go through bottom ends because of how the main caps are all tied together thus not allowing the crank to walk if you will, but on a 7.3 the main caps are not tied together creating a weak bottom and allowing stuff to walk creating the issues. I do agree tuning does play a part but in the end its still a weak bottom end that unless "beefed" up will come apart. There are the few who have made 500+ hp and have had thousand's of miles on there motor's but most likely daily driving in a lower power tune and never using the full 500+ potential everyday or working there truck hard.

Where do you come up with this stuff? Good tuning can make a motor live a long time

That goes with any truck... I dont think your driving around making 700hp all day every day.

The drive train will not hold up to it, none of the light duty trucks will hold up to much more then 350hp on a daily basis...
