I'm wanting to paint the square trim piece that goes around the factory Navagation and the heater controls. How does one go about removing it to paint it?

You have to pop off the 2 black pieces at the bottom where the 12v outlet is and the USB/ aux inputs are. Use a screwdriver on the center bottom of those to pop them out. Then there are 2 bolts under them to hold the dash piece on. I think the rest just pops off be careful wit the thin piece above the radio

Have a plastic trim tool and 7mm socket handy.
Pop the mentioned lower corner pieces out, disconnect them and set them aside to get the two 7mm screws underneath,
then through the openings pull on the panel gently outward,
the bottom will usually release first,
then on each side work your hand up the edge of the panel to release the four clips across the top.
