HPOP and injectors

Is it possible for the injectors to be ruined when the HPOP goes out? Meaning small pieces of metal or lack of oil to the injectors making them fail. The reason I ask is because I had a diesel mechanic tell me that this is why my injectors went bad. I think I have read every post on this subject and never read anything about both being replaced because the HPOP loosing pressure. Thanks for any help.

yes, its certainly possible if the pump damage is bad enough. The oil goes right from the pump to the rails.
