Could 5160s work on a truck that was stock hieght or very slightly lower? I have no experience with them but I am going to debate putting 33s on and taking the 2.5" leveling kit and 5" blocks out of the truck. Possibly 5.4 springs and remove my f350 overload springs as well. But I dont want to buy them if I cant use them

I've had the 5100's, no different that factory IMHO and I just put on some FOXs and I'm pleased w/ them.
I looked in to the ICONs but I couldn't justify the price and their customer service was horrible the few times I called to get info.

I have the Bilstein 5160's on my stock height F250.
They look totally overkill but ride much better than stock, I don't have anything else to compare them too though. Front have been on for a couple months rears will go on in 2 weeks.
Lifetime warranty is nice.
Was thinking about Icon but nothing offered for stock height. Also more $$$ and slightly harder to get.

I doubt you'll have a problem on a lowered truck.
Collapsed length is shorter than stock shocks but extended length is longer because of the remote reservoir. There are YouTube vids that show this.

Get billet clamps if your going to attach the reservoir to the shock body.

I think I am going to go with the 5160's up front and the 5100 out back. My buddy puts on those 3M clear bra's so I am going to get him to wrap them after i put a good polish on it.

What is the lifetime warranty deal with? The shock itself or just finish?

Went to look at my paperwork and it seems I was mislead.
Just got off the phone with the distributor I bought them from and he says "Bilstein 5160's are only a 90 day warranty", I was told Lifetime when I ordered them.
I'll be digging through my emails to see if I actually have this documented.

The 5100's are Lifetime warranty.
Bilstein does not cover cosmetic issues on any products.

I only have the fronts installed right now. No problems with them and I like how they ride but it's the lifetime warranty that got me to spend the extra $$$ on them.

I'm not too concerned with how my shocks look, if after a winter or two they show discoloration I'll just paint them. I may paint them anyway, I'm not big on the shiny silver finish they come with, I'm fine with black.

You're correct its only 90 days BUT ICON does make shocks for a factory application, you just have to dig and dig and dig. When I called them they had no initial clue and refused to look up the info. I had another member on PSN give me the part # and i called them w/ the part # then it was, "Oh yeah". I simpled had called to inquire and they said no but it wasn't until someone gave me the part # that I was able to confirm they exist. At almost 300 each, I debated how awesome they would be at 1200 for a full set vs the 400 i paid for my FOX.
Plus the nice thing about the FOX, they'll customize them further and set them up to be adjustable. FOX had good service when I was dealing w/ them.

Which Icons, can you post the part number?
I looked at their website earlier and couldn't find any info on shock warranty to compare.

I got them from Txfireman or something like that on PSN by PM but I deleted it. OBSWIZ might be able to get you the #s.

I have talked w/ pure performance and they were pleasant to deal w/ so FWIW if you have your heart set on spending $1200 bucks or so, check out PP or maybe spend a few more and get some Kings. The FOXS and PP can be custom tuned beyond how they leave the factory. I'd assume so w/ the Kings BUT I haven't spoke to KING about that one fact.

We did some on a members truck, he has a ICON 4.5 with a 1" spacer and 5" deavers in the rear. It rides nice but not as nice as the ICON 2.5's in my opinion. We just did a full ICON kit on a 6.4 and I literally just got done test driving it and it soaks up bumps like your riding on marshmellows but you dont have a lot of body roll. I'm digging is so much it has me wanting to swap out my lift for one.

i gotta say my icon kit rides very very smooth. i did the 4.5" .

He did the 5160's with his ICON kit, they are nice don't get me wrong, I just think the ICON 2.5's ride smoother.

im with ya, i love the icon shocks. im pretty sure mine are 2.0 .

Hey, y'all talking bout my truck. So far the 5160 ride great, Gotta remember it's a BIG truck. The icons were good, but they were completely wore out and leaking so anything i put on was going to be an improvement. Thought about rebuilding them but went with new instead. I'm very pleased with them. Probably would have done the icons, but the Jeep has started taking priority on cash flow so 5160's were good enough for the SD.

LoL yeah you, your 5160's ride better than your old ICON 2.0's do but I like the ride of the ICON 2.5's the best. Its just a really smooth riding shock. I was comparing it to the ride of the 2.5's not your old 2.0's.
