I figured I should start my build thread, even though it will be a slow build and will hopefully start in a month or so.
The events that lead up to this was my move out to Casper, WY from NY. About 26 hours into the drive and 4 more to go, it was all of a sudden my truck had a bad miss and bluish smoke, got a #5 injector code. The next morning I changed out the injector and as I was doing so I bumped a exhaust valve bridge on #5 and the bridge fell out... That point I knew it was more than an injector. So as much as I didn't want to I had to bring it somewhere to get it fixed, as I wasn't even living at my apartment yet and still in a hotel and worked too much to fix it myself. I brought it to Hallers to have it repaired, and for the record even thought I didn't have it compeletly repaired there they were still an awesome shop to deal with and only wish I had the money to do business with them, anywayd they called me and told me the lifter was destroyed and flattened my cam and cracked my block. At that point I didn't have the money to fixed it so I decided to pick it up and sit on it until I figure out what to do. But now I figured out what I'm going to do, I'm gunna rebuilt the motor in my apartment, or a garage here on the complex of I can rent one. I'm gunna replace and upgrade everything that was ruined, block, pistons, cam, and heads. The parts list is as follows:
HD coated Pistons w/ valve reliefs
Stage 2 cam
Either new block or see if mine can be saved (if the crack isn't bad, maybe?)
New heads
Lifters (upgraded ones)
Zero gap 2nd ring
That covers the engine side, if it's not listed in gunna reuse what I can plus all new bearings. Now this is where is gets fun, it won't happen this year, (I just want to get it running and gather go faster parts first) my goal as of now is to get into four digit Hp range if possible on a single turbo, or close to 4 digits. I say single because I feel it's safe power due to no low end torque. My next question is what would be a good turbo and nozzle match to achieve that, I would even be happy with 900+hp. I know I'm gunna need the basics, duel fuelers, upgraded lift pump etc. but what combo should I go with? What else should I add? Not looking to break the bank but I want to make it hold together.
I am looking forward to this build and can't wait to start it. Shall be fun doing it in an apartment LOL
