Putting 4.30s in my truck. Having huge issues getting a good pattern on the ring. Am I going to need to shim the hell out of the pinion to get it good. I'm at .107 thousands shim now and its still wanting more. Its 10.25 gears in the 10.5 housing due to gear size so is this normal? It doesn't seem right to me. But I do have the special race/bearing kit etc installed as well.

That's odd. You try shimming the carrier more to the passenger side at all?
Not 100% sure but is there a think and thin ring gear option for that rear/carrier?

When I have done gears I always shimmed the carrier when I went to a deeper gear.
I would shim the carrier over with a .107 shim in the pinion.
What is the stock shim on the pinion?

Shimmed the race in the housing out .120 then stock .030 shim behind the bearing. Shimmed carrier back towards the drivers side for a .010 backlash. Front and rear are all done.
