Been having nice weather this week and my Ac sucks. Sometimes it will blow super cold nice air but then at times it will barely blow cool air. They system is charged and doesn't seem to leak. I haven't hooked up real pressure gauges yet, just had one of the basic autozone low side reading gauge. I've cleaned the front condenser with the hose by its clean. Any ideas to check? I know I need real gauges to diagnose but until I get a set anything I can check?

Get some AC condenser cleaner from home depot or others hardware store and clean the condenser and radiator. sounds like the AC pump may be going out though.

When it blows cold, it's not that cold barely enough to keep the inside cool but then will notice at times it doesn't seem to be as cold, but the compressor is on. I guess I need to get some gauges and see what's going on. Maybe thinking the orifice valve is dirty. I know the system has been disconnected when the studs were done maybe they got it dirty or **** in there?

Sounds like it's low on charge.
May need to have it vacuumed and properly charged.
If you just empty it without vacuuming and charge it, does exactly like yours is doing.

Ever figure out the problem? The other day I drive home, perfect ice cold air like always, now not hot, but barely cool air, but does get cooler when idling at a stop

Does the 6.0 have the same compressor that needs shims on the compressor clutch? My 7.3 would blow hot anytime I stepped on the brakes and once I bought a shim kit and adjusted the compressor I had ice cold air all the time. Took me 6 months to figure that one out.

Yes it does.

Also, I see at least 2 trucks a week that have the cooler stack plugged full of dirt. Some are so bad that we have to pull the radiator and pressure wash it.
With the A/C on you should be able to feel a decent amount of air moving across the coolers with your hand. If the condenser is burning hot to the touch and there is little to no air flow compared to the back side of the fan then there is a restriction in air flow. Also, I see fan clutches go out often too. Truck won't over heat but the A/C sucks.

Figured mine out, orifice tube was plugged from accumulator cumming apart. Having those replaced, and the rest of the system flushed.

So far, two days in after replacing the accumulator and orifice, and flushing the system, the AC is colder than ever
