Thats quite obvious, saying its a step backward is just your opinion. 6.4 likes a single 66 with stock fuel, very drivable depending on tuning, converter and altitude.

Thats besides the point, im still saying this is irrelevant.

low drive pressure means slow spoolup. and the only reason the compounds have higher drive pressure is because of the vgt to get it spooled quicker.

The VGT is a restriction at the top end, and where the issues with backpressure come in to play. If you have low rpm back pressure, you have serious issues LOL

Morgan is right and I agree with him. Different strokes for different folks, the beauty of having options.

Sledpull that's the kinda stuff I've been looking for. Do you have any experience with a 366 or 371? RCD is very close to me and my buddies shop carries their products just wanted something different so I've been trying to get a cheap well mannered kit from MPD but it looks like I'll be sticking with RCD for now. Thanks to everyone who has replied. Me and my buddy will be doing all the work to truck he's a John Deere diesel tech who started his own truck performance company about two years ago so he's mostly the brains. I'm just a farmer and a wrench turner. Snowmobile and power sport tech so most of my personal experience is with high performance two strokes so the RCDs being a drop in kit would be nice. However I think the MPD kit is pretty much bolt on too if I'm not mistaken?

Who here commenting has actual experience with single turbo 6.4's? More specifically near the elevation the newby plans on using his truck at.

How bad is elevation on spool I live in Florida 1/2 mile from the gulf I'm at see level 100%

you would have no problem getting an s300 of any size to light. They wont be hard to get soon, good things of good quality take time.

66 works well with stock fuel as a single. We are actually doing a setup for guy running a 6 spd, that will be interesting. Only thing that helps with is being able to control low rpm issue by holding gears longer at a higher rpm.

We do singles but they are mostly custom one offs for the application. I doubt we will ever do a whole 6.4 generic kit.

I run custom tunes already so that's no biggy to order more. But If I were able to get a 66 or 71 kit and decided to go that way what other mods would be necessary? Would a single because of the rapid hp gain and acceleration once the turbo lights be harder on a tranny than the RCD 59/72?

I ran an s300 based single on my 2010 and it ripped in the upper rpm range. Thing pulled way stronger than the stock turbos. It did have some lag too it in overdrive with the converter locked. With 3.55 gears or was tough to pull through them if the converter locked to soon. I've since been in a few trucks with mod stock turbos and think if to that route next time. As much fun as my single was on the street, the mod stocks are just more versatile.

You can make that power on fuel with stock appearing chargers. As a couple of guys mentioned, I've run several drop in turbo set ups and loved them. If you have any questions on them let me know!
