hey guys getting my list together for a new project.

what im understanding is alot of 6.4s have the problem of maintaining rail on a race tune, so im being told to buy an AD or another low pressure pump to help keep the HP happy.

is this true? and is an air dog the best way to go?
have they had failures on the 6.4 like the 6.0?

I don't think maintaining rail pressure is a problem when running the high horse tunes but it's been a long time since I had a tuner, intake, exhaust setup.

If you do go with an airdog, its really worth getting the fuel bowl delete so that your hpfp gets a direct supply of fuel IMO.

The stock low pressure system will maintain big tunes just fine. You hpfp will determine if it will maintain or not. A high mileage pump may be a factor if it ever had water in the fuel.system Ect.

Like shone said tho air dog isn't a bad idea for better filtration and ease of changing filters

Ok so only get the airdog if needed.

I have A few buddies that are right at 100k and can't maintain 24xxx on a race or X-whatever tune from Eric.

I'm guessing it's just the luck of the draw on the pump life

I was told that if your pump doesn't keep up now, you can replace it but it will only last for so long before it starts dragging again?

Sorry for the 100 questions just trying to wrap my head around this before I dive in to the parts and buying my 6.4

I'm supposed to be getting that truck after I sell my left kidney on the black market! but as far as rail pressure. Im running an airdog 165 and fuel bowl delete to my stock (new) HPFP. maintains 300 hot damn, and 310 kem tunes all day long. hope thats food for thought
