LPOP Replacement

Just a quick one! Does the oil pan need to be drained to replace the LPOP?

No it doesnt need to be drained.

It will say Dampner on the outside edges of both gears . Just have the words pointing away from the engine..

Ordered a Melling. Not seeing any writing on the gears.

Should be something on the face of the gear.

or just a dimple.... either or, make sure you smother the gears in litium grease or STP, going to be pretty harsh start up

I'll have to look at my Melling again, but i'm pretty sure on them it doesn't matter which way they get installed.

Just installed a melling last week. No marks. I marked them with sharpie when I took it out of the box.

Melling can be installed either way.

OEM pumps can only go in one way. Just in case you get the OEM pump.

Melling it does not matter..

the Mellings does NOT have any marks, and it CAN be installed either way, it's designed that way so you cannot screw it up.....

it you read the directions that came with it, you will see that.
