Reads some threads where MAC was risky to use with MCC. These threads were a couple years old, is that still the case or is it ok to use a MacBook Pro with MCC? Going to buy a new laptop in the next few days so your input is needed thx

Well from a purely computer stand point, Mac's are like the worst for interfacing with almost anything but Apple products... Do yourself a favor and find a reman'd window's 7 PC laptop. I've never had any issues with Windows 7 platforms with MCC or the SCT update programs.

What about partitioning part of the hard drive on a Mac to run Windows?

Can I ask why you're set on a Mac? I mean yeah you can do that but just seems like a pita compared to just buying a Win 7 laptop. If you get a re manufactured one you can get a sweet deal. I found one that was $3800 for $900 just because everyone wants Windows 10.

Dear god Windows 10 is horrible.. I feel like it is Microsoft's goal to hide all of my programs from me, lol.

I have a couple of real cheap Windows 7 laptops that are strictly for running diag software and tuning related stuff.

Doesn't take much to run most of those programs

Not totally set on Mac but I will say the last 2 PC' s I bought did not last long. Always freezing up and slow as molasses in January. My android phones worked good for about 4 months then they were slow and freezing up. Went to iPhone and have no issues so I was just assuming it would be the same in the laptop world.

I am a MAC guy also and have an old Windows XP laptop that I use for all my vehicle programming. I don't know about the MCC but it worked great for My R1 (Flashtune), Raptor (Power Commander), Cars (Multi) and SCT uploads.
MAC is great but some of the compatibility does suck but after switching years ago I hate PC's.

I have a toshiba laptop with Windows vista which sucks. I have tried to update my H&S tuner but it will not work so I can't get the updated files. I'm thinking it is my computer because if I go on h&s performance website it won't let me do anything

Lol.... shady sights and lots of malware and viruses make computers slow....

I own both a MacBook pro and several machines ranging from windows Vista to 7 - 8 and 10.

Hands down Microsoft has it together. If one thinks windows 10 learning curve is bad, you haven't tried to work with a MacBook. For a right handed person it's like trying to do everything with your left hand.

Like mentioned above if your dead set on a apple computer then you can run Windows Virtual Machine. Although that system is also prone to issues as well. One is simply better running a BOOT drive to startup a machine in either windows of mac OS.

Goodluck.

Spend some money and invest in a IBM ThinkPad 450 or 550 and call it a decade.

wow, do you click on every link presented to you?

get a cheap windows laptop and ONLY use it for tuning. don't connect it to the internet. You can get something for $200-300 that will work just fine.

on PC's I run zero anti-virus software. I use run spybot maybe once a year. zero issues

but yes, you should get a mac :D

I'm not real computer savvy so don't how to keep one running good but I guess I need to learn. I found an IBM Lenovo for $150 may take a look at it

Listen to the guys saying to get a cheap machine with Win 7. Seriously it will be the least problematic AND the most proven route. Win 7 is compatible with all tuning software for these trucks, I'm not sure as for Win 10 because I had it on a tablet and after a week I was so mad I wiped it and sold it.

Honestly for what you want to do, a "tuning only" laptop is the way to go.

Also to whomever just compared Android OS and IOS to Windows and Apple... That's not the same thing at all...

I hear what you are saying but all the laptops I have found have less memory than what I have now and will be cheaper to just upgrade my system IF Windows 10 will work I can buy it now but if it won't I will have to either find Windows 7 somewhere or buy another laptop with 7 already on it like you said. Anyone use Windows 10 with MCC?
