Machining Pistons.

Is there a template out there that I can show my machinist on how much to take out of the bowl on my stock pistons? Was doing a little research and I can't come up with anything to show him or tell him on how much to take off the lip. Thanks

Lol my method isn't very scientific. basically make the top of the bowl the same diameter as the lower part of the bowl. I think it opens the bowl up about 5mm

Yes

Top is just machining the lip off to match the radius...note the crack lol.


Second one is the cut with the radius put in to keep cracks from starting in the new lip.

They cracked but not bad enough to hurt the block.

I really wanna pull my crew cab motor back apart and machine the pistons in it too.


Working on a spare engine now for either truck just in case

There is no noticeable difference so far. it drops to roughly the same compression as the international pistons. I don't think anyone has had any issues with them. eriks truck has them and so does mals and neither one has any hazing issues.

There wasn't any issues with mine. It only hazed on Eric's race tune loaded with 110's. But it was waayyy to smokey for me to run out here. Other than that I haven't noticed anything.
