Manual Option

I know this talk has gone on for many years on the pros and cons. I ran across this and didn't know if it would be any good http://www.high-impact.net/transmission_and_gear/nv4500_ford7.3diesel_auto.htm

i know there would need tuning and im not sure about the gearing and how it would work with our motor power/torque range

And I've never heard of this. The only one I drove with that trans, I kind of liked.

I can't remember exactly, but I don't think you really have to have anything changed.

When going auto to manual, it is best to have the tuning changed. You will end up with a bad idle and some dead spots in the pedal if you continue running auto tuning with a manual trans.

We flash PCM's all the time for guys going auto to manual.

That is ALOT of $$$$$ to put a manual trans in

I used DP Tuner for the re-flash to manual on my auto PCM. It works just fine. It took a week or so from the time I sent the pcm in until I got it back.
