What are the differences between these 2 transmission oils. SP and LV. Is there much difference? Does LV supercede SP? :morons:

I have a case of SP left over from my 6.0L, can I use it in my 6.4L? I bought LV because I wasn't sure.

Why we are on the subject of atf. I was told my a trusted local trans builder that dex vi can go in place of sp and lv. And for that matter mercon and mercon v also. And all GM dex. Any body have any info for this? He tells me he only uses dex or dex vi, unless its a cv trans.

So is LV better than SP? If I can use either, I'd like to use the better one. I have a few bottles of SP lying around already, I will bring them back and get LV if it is the better oil.

LV is supposed to retain its viscosity better. It was introduced as a lifetime fluid, don't think it has been out long enough to prove that it is.

As far as Dex VI goes I'm pretty sure it can be used in place of other Dexron trans fluids. It is a synthetic so it should last longer. Never heard of it being used in place of Mercon though.

I use the maxlife trans fluid. In there book it specifically says SP. But if you look on the back it only say LV. I've used itfor years in my small garage. Never ran in to a problem. My 2 cents.
