I moved from a higher HP 7.3 to a 6.7...... and I love it. The new truck is dead nuts quiet, smooth, comfortable, and is perfect for towing. It takes every bit of my useable towing power on the 7.3L to keep up with the 6.7, and my 7.3 hit just under 500 rwhp on the dyno. As for lag.... come to high altitude to actually learn what lag is. Going from 5,000 to 9,000ft, I can barely tell any difference on the 6.7. But there's a huge difference on the 7.3. That's lag my friends. What little delay there is on the 15's, it doesn't bother me or my wife. We aren't trying to yank the axles out from underneath our trailers from a stoplight. It's actually pretty smooth taking off from a stop when there's a load behind you. And at speed, the lag is about the same as the 7.3 at lower elevations. Get up in the mountains, and the 6.7 will light up first. The most understated differences between the two is MAINTENANCE. A 7.3 pretty much keep the oil good and fuel tank full, and drive it until the wheels fall off. Forget to mess with the coolant? That's ok it'll still run another 300K. Forget to change the fuel filter? That's ok you can drive it another 10,000 miles. Accidentally poured oil in the fuel tank? Drive it like you stole it. That's not true with the 6.7. It's a MUST that you have to follow the maintenance outlined in the owners manual to the letter, and never skip anything. Proper maintenance will give you the best experience and maximize the longevity. Make sure you are getting good diesel fuel too, or you'll have problems. It's just a fact of life. Once you realize that aspect, it's actually pretty easy to maintain. Plenty of 6.7's go well over 100K or 200K miles with nothing more than maintenance.
