See what I mean about this being strange. I really have a feeling/hope the fuel pump is the culprit, because its about the only thing I haven't checked yet. Like I said, all 8 injectors buzz, cranking rpm's are good, verified by scanner, used a buddies cps, pulled from running truck, icp is very healthy, get some smoke while cranking, but seems to be hit or miss, like it doesn't always smoke while cranking. Fuses have been triple checked with bowl heater unplugged, oil level is good, front tank has at least 16 gallons in it, I tried cranking with icp unplugged, still nothing...

Yes I see what you mean! I am sure to you are not getting fuel or enough to do the job, Hence the smoke. If i was to take A guess i would say the smoke is white right? If so you are for sure not getting enough fuel and the pressure is to low.

I think you will find it when you check the pressure. You are on the right track for sure! it just gets annoying when this happens!

Yeah whitish greyish smoke. Hopefully I get a chance to check it out tomorrow and figure this damn thing out, and will post back with my findings

And where is the actual selector valve located? Somewhere on the frame near the tanks I assume? Do I need to just pull it and blow it out?

Yes the selector valve is right after the tanks right along the frame rail. I would before yanking it see if you can suck or blow fuel through it. You can take and pressurize the tank through the fill spout and see if fuel come out. But in all reality it should just gravity feed if you pull the lines off the front (the side facing the engine)of the selector valves. The only way I would pull it is if the fuel would not gravity feed through. If it does not pressurize your tank and see what happens. If still no go then you have problems. and you will need to pull it and or maybe the tanks.

Pretty much that all you have to do. At least all the ones I have done have gravity fed out. Or maybe I should say siphoned out. It should flow by itself. You might have to get it started, But I never had to.

Idm was brand new 4-5 years ago, truck was parked after it was installed, and it buzz tests fine, and had no idm codes. I don't think its the culprit

id pull the line off and blow into the line back feeding into the tank first, that way if something is blocking the line your not trying to force it clear through the line.

Well, its definitely not getting fuel to the bowl, and the pump is making a nasty pinging sound while cranking, so I'm gonna say the pump is the problem.

No, I looked at the selector valve, and there weren't any lines on the front of it, so I didn't bother screwing with it. Looked like a pain in the ass with the tank on the truck...

I'm gonna get a new pump anyways, they're not super expensive... if it still doesn't get fuel to the bowl, I will investigate further into a blocked line or selector valve

Sounds like a plan. The pumps are a pain to do. Most times you have to yank the turbo to do it. But you might not have to.

I've replaced one on a buddies truck in under an hour. I had a obs motor at work that was fully dressed, so I went and bent a 1 1/4" wrench to fit in there for the banjo. No turbo removal
