Friday, uga33 and myself drove down to Lead Foot Diesel Performance to pick up their RC/LB 6.4 for the dyno day I hosted Saturday. A little background on the truck:
F-250 RC/LB XL
Single Garrett GTX4202 (MPD kit)
MPD log style manifolds
MPD up-pipes
150HP Nozzles
Twin K16 kit (Elite's kit)
Built SunCoast transmission
DPC torque converter
Spearco intercooler
Stock motor other than ARP studs and EGR delete
I drove the truck back home from Loganville, both highway and around town. I drove the truck Friday night at home around town. I drove the truck Saurday morning from home to the dyno day, which was about 40 minutes away, and I ran the truck on the dyno.
The tune loaded was a basic IDP Extreme Street file. All of the correct options in the Livewire were selected, but the file was an early lock-up file. It would lock the torque converter at 45 MPH. This wasn't fun. If I didn't use tow/haul, the truck was brutal between 0-50 MPH. Using tow/haul with this transmission file helped up to 50ish MPH. Beyond 50 MPH, it was terrible up to about 75-80 MPH. It would smoke like crazy if you accelerating, especially up a hill. Obviously the main reason for this was the big fuel and early lock-up file. Once the truck is at around 80 MPH, its about like driving my truck with the 310 tune.....unless you put it to the floor.
Oh yeah. The truck is stupid loud. It has a stack too, which doesn't help. It was definitely getting some attention around town. No one in my area is use to that. LOL
I think with some tuning, this setup could be SOMEWHAT streetable. Definitely a lot more streetable than my experience. I can see where proper tuning, a single, and added fuel could make for a daily driver setup. The key is the transmission tuning and pulling some fuel in certain spots to prevent the constant haze. This thing hazed at idle in gear and at idle in park.
As for the dyno, it made huge power. I think we made 5 or 6 runs with it trying to get the nitrous to work, but it never worked. Highest fuel only run was 888. The charger lit really good on that one. The lowest fuel only run was 812, but the charger didn't light well on that run. Needless to say, this is a really strong setup!
If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask. Just keep in mind that this was a basic IDP Extreme Street file with a 45 MPH lock-up speed.
