I think its time for an alternator upgrade. Im thinking either the Nations/DC 185 ( TAD185 : 185 Amp Series Alternator for 6.0L ) , DC power unit ( 190 Amp HD Series Alternator for 6.0L ) ( I dont know if 20 amps is worth the extra money... ) or the Leece Neville 230 ( Leece Neville 230 amp alternator )

I found the Leece Neville for 300 shipped, I dont know if its 100% legit real unit but I got the link here.

I also dont really want to add cabling around the engine. I will throw a cable from the post to the pass. battery and add a ground from the alt to the frame.

Power wise, I only have an audio system around 1250w total. I dont ALWAYS have it cranking. I rarely use the AC and never use the seat heaters, I also always have my fog lights on when I have headlights on. I think I read the truck needs 100a of power for normal consumption...

Anyway, Im here looking to see what ya'll say.

I got the Leece... bought it through XDP. I think I got 10% off. Put it on a couple of months ago when I noticed the regulator on my NAPA alternator stared to freak out. Haven't had the chance to even upgrade the lead from the alternator to the battery. I did run 2 dedicated leads to parallel the battery out of 2 gauge a year ago and I think it was well worth it.

Thanks. I'm debating one them kinda hard. I mean do the DCs honestly outperform say the neece and warrant an additional what, 100 or so bucks?

I have dc alternators on both my 7.3s. 130k miles on 1 and still going strong. I did have to tighten the case bolts at around 70k miles.

That leece alt looks like the same one ih and ford put on the cf500's and lcf's...which had the v6 version of the 6.0 in them. I got mine off an lcf and it works great.

Love my DC 190. For me...I'd spend the extra $100 just for the better looks lol! Its been on for a few years and has performed flawlessly.

I have a one off CAC tube and it's pretty tight in the back. The 190 from DC sticks out in the back a bit too much. I'll have to get a stock foot print alternator
