Need help.. Built 6.4

Ok so I'm driving my truck (shones) old truck. I'm cruising along at say 30 mph normal driving and it all of a sudden looses all power no nothing it revs down to around 600rpm. Then it sits there a few seconds and then dies. Try and start it but nothing then try it agin it starts. I put in drive and has no power won't rev or even try to move at all.. Finally after it shuts off a few times it has power moves really slow but I get over the hill. Then I'm goin along get up to maybe 40 and all power is gone again same thing slows way down them shuts off.. Tey to start it and nothing get it running it revs fine this time then I take off and same thing again revs down the peddle dose nothing at all truck it's just barely running at about 5-600 rpms. I finally limp it home and put it in the garage. Anyone have a clue what I can look for all levels seem to be ok no leaks or anything.

Is there any codes? That would be the first thing to check forsure. There should be something because its telling the truck to go into limp mode.

No codes or lights or anything, it's just funny cus I could start it would act normal then do die then another time it will just have nothing from the start..

smoke/misfire anything of that nature? gaining oil?

Sounds like a communication between ecm error or a bad power or ground connection. I'd start checking grounds and power wires and be sure they are tight first and that they haven't corroded or come apart.

Fuel filters possibly. Almost sounds like a lack of fuel.

No smoke it won't rev to even smoke.

Filters have around 400 miles on it

Not sure of the history of your fuel tank, but I know it sit for a while. Look at pics in my thread, if the 2 micron filter clogs, it will not run and act similar to what you are saying. Pull the filter from your AirDog or LP pump you have and cut it apart to rule out sludge.

Could very well be fuel. Before ripping it apart check the easy stuff first. Could be a loose bolt for a ground for all we know.

Anyway....as others have mentioned, id start by checking grounds then move to fuel filter.

How many miles have you put on it since you got it ?

Had a similar problem. Turned to be throttle position. Never had a code

Yep it was, I checked a few grounds nothing yet. I'm leaning towards fuel, it's got right at 800 miles since I got it
