Looking to possibly buy a 99 superduty (late), truck is a supercab longbed xl model with just over 200k miles, looks like it needs some injectors, maybe a high pressure oil pump (truck is hard to start cold)

Thinking i can pick the truck up for about 2000 bucks or so, What im looking to do is either get it for my dad to pull his small camper, or possibly just fix up enough to sell for around 5-6000 bucks.

Do-able? need some opinions. The truck is a friends, her brother talked her into buying it, she bought a yukon instead and doesnt need the truck.

Is it 4x4? I have found around here anyway that the 2wd trucks go pretty cheap.. Anyway if all it needs is injectors and a hpop I bet you could make a decent chunk off it if you got it for 2k

Then yeah, if you can get it for 2k then its certainly worth it... Shoot you buy it for 2 as long as its not beat to death I will give you 3k for it and you don't have to screw with it ;)

Supposedly the glow plugs and relay are newer. He thought it had a high pressure oil.leak.somewhere that was bleeding off and making it hard to start

could be possible.. A bad ICP sensor will do that to. Or a sticky IPR valve..

just hook a gauge to it and see what it is when cranking. that will tell you something.
What am I doing!! you know this stuff already!!!

I haven't found a 7.3 I wouldn't buy and try to turn for under 2k usually two thousand and 7.3 in the same sentence gets the immediate response of sold..

It sounds like my parents have claimed this one already for a new tow rig, which would work great for them.

how reliable are these things at 200k miles?

I have one that has 286k and still starts and runs good... Th only problem is the tranny.

Check it out find out why it is hard to start. As long as it has good compression the engine should be good. If you do start if it smokes bad when started, the check to see how long it runs before it burns clean. i know for me 200K miles is not bad. infact could still go another 200k if took care of right. Both my 7.3 are over 200k.
