My E99 7.3L has a horrible popping out the exhaust, as well as a tick in the motor. Smokes like a pig even at idle, excessive blow by out the tube.

Did AE contribution test, said cylinder 3 and 5. P0269 P0275

Did compression check

Cylinder #'s

1: 410
2: 450
3: 420
4: 380
5: 395
6: 425
7: 300
8: Pegged my 800 psi gauge.

Based off that information, something must not be opening fully or barely at all with cylinder #8 exhaust valve I am guessing

Engine has 240K, stock engine, fuel system, 230/200's 36psi of boost

Let me know if you have any ideas or input.

Thanks-- James

my question is, why is #8 loading up with fuel when injector harness is unplugged? None of the others were loaded up with fuel.

Still way low compression on # 7

I have one just doesnt fit down past where the glow plug tip goes. Guess motor coming out today. Pics to follow

Could pour some oil down the glow plug hole and recheck compression... tell ya whether its rings/cylinder or not thats causing low compression. If compression numbers stay the same then its not the rings/cylinder. Comoression jumps up then yeah is time to pull motor and rework it.
