Hello all, glad to finally be a part of the PSA! I have recently discovered my 1996 F250 7.3 has a Banks Ottomind Engine Control Module in it. After buying an Edge CTS Monitor and the monitor not being able to communicate with the truck (due to the Banks chip) I'm thinking of removing the chip to see how the truck performs but don't know if it will cause any issues once removed. I am happy with the performance of the truck now but after investing $320 on the monitor I'm not quite sure what to do. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Take Banks chip out and find nearest trash can. Insert Banks chip in trash can and buy a TS or Hydra chip from one of our vendors on this site.

Enjoy your truck.

Just removing not an issue?

Thanks for the posts! I live in Delta Junction Alaska, love it up here. So, removing the chip from the ECM will not keep the truck from running or having any issues. I plan to get a TS 6 position chip I think but chips are new to me. Thanks for the help!

make sure the keys are far from the ignition when removing.
