Figured I would start a little build thread over here on my new to me 1979 Bronco. It came fresh out of a barn here outside of Houston, where it has sat for a whole bunch of years. After i drug it out and knocked the dust off of it, I sprayed a little either in it and the 351 fired right up. So far, I have the fuel tank, sender, lines, straps, filler neck hoses and carb on order. Build plans will be pretty simple, 6" lift, 37" tires, mild cam in the 351m to help wake it up a little bit, then fixing the interior and exterior to look like new. Eventually a 460 will get built and go in place of the 351m. I will do my best to remember to get pictures and update this along the way.

I'm the worst about keeping up with build threads, and for those that care, I apologize! Since I last posted, the fuel system went in, full tune up and a rebuilt carb and she runs like a champ. Opted to go with a 4" and 36" Iroks rather than the 6" and 37s that I had originally planned. I've had it out at a few off road parks enjoying it, but it has strictly been trailer jewelry so far. Here in the next few weeks I'll be going through both axles with all new bearings, seals, brakes and hoses, new u joints, balance the drive shafts, new wheels, carpet, weatherstripping, and a few other maintenance items to bring her up to a road worthy driver. Until then, here are a few pictures taken over the last few months!

I'm on this forum damn near all day when I'm at work reading about everyone's builds, but I'm the worst about updating my own. I'll try to get better about it!

Awesome, recently at a car cruise I rode in a friends early bronco it was pretty enjoyable to ride in. Basically he had repaired rust, budget paint job, and had a good running 289 in it and hes enjoying it.

It's definitely been fun for sure, everywhere I go someone wants to talk about it. I have had a lot of classic cars/trucks and it seems like this one attracts the most attention.

That's just a part of owning a 70's Ford, everybody loves them. I would get compliments daily when I used to drive my 77.

I guess I am about due for my quarterly update on this thing! I went ahead and threw some cheap 15x10 black wagon wheels to get me by until I decide on paint color and get wheels to match. I was ordering parts the other today for the engine and got a little carried away. What was originally supposed to be a simple pull the engine, reseal, repaint and throw a timing set at it turned into cam, lifters, timing set, roller rockers, and a set of Australian 351C cylinder heads. Ideally it should go in for paint/body work sometime late spring when it warms up a little bit. In the mean time I have it road legal and I actually think I enjoy driving this more than my Super Duty most days! Photobucket is acting up, so I only have one recent picture of it during a foam bath, I'll keep trying to upload some and get them up for everyone.

Whats the point in building something if you don't go out and beat on it occasionally? Followed a Polaris RZR a lot of places people never thought I could.
