Figured it's about time I introduce myself.

Hi all. The name as you can see is Alex. Long time lover of the PowerStroke and Ford's in general (owned a couple modded Fox bodies with NYC racing history).

After much convincing, the wife finally understood the need (my desire?) for a truck. I had browsed before but signed up once the search got serious. I've learned a lot and hope to return the favor sometime.

Cheers!

I was in the same boat and picked up an '06 cclb for 14k. Although the miles were about 120,000, the truck was super clean and well taken care of. Spent about 4k and completely bulletproofed the motor (studs, upgraded cooler, deleted, 4 inch [email protected]-pro and SCT tuner, stc fitting, dummy plugs, standpipes, etc) changed all fluids, etc. Runs awesome and kept the overall price under 20,000.

I would look at trucks with over 100,000. Just do your homework, take a scanner, don't be afraid to ask questions and you'll be fine.

Welcome! I agree with Matt on not limiting yourself to just trucks under 100,000. There are some great deals to be had on higher mileage trucks with lots of life left in them, leaving you more money for 'necessary' upgrades. :naughty:

Those are immaculate examples of what can be had. Regarding the 100,000 mile limitation, I should make clear that it's my wife who wasn't happy about buying a 100,000+ mile truck. She has come around. I'll be sure to show her the above examples.

Thanks!

Don't worry about over 100k miles. My motor was just torn down at 225k miles and it looked great other than a piston that cracked from some sort of debris getting in it.
