No Start Help

A friend of mine has a 97 7.3 he ran it outta diesel driving down the road and once filled it up it wont start. The truck cranks over and will run with shot of ether but once that wears off dies again. CPS has been replaced, hpop full of oil, fuel in fuel bowl, unplugged icp sensor, all wiring connections are good. I'm stumped at this point can anyone point me to some other tests or what the problem could be? if truck sets over night it will start on its own and run for a second or 2 then dies again. any help would be much appreciated.

If theres one gold rule to a diesel, never ****ing drain the tank. Ever. I have a diesel with a high-flow electric lift pump (not my stroke) and I can kill my battery twice over even jumping the lift pump just trying to get it started again.

Is it a 5spd? Try push starting it; will save you a TON of hassle.

Once air gets sucked through those lines, its a cranking game until it comes back to life.
