So I posted a few different threads regarding drivability, trans shifting, etc...since I went to a non VGT set up and wanted to give an update. I swapped out the 6" lift and 37s for factory 20s on the stock 275/65 tire size as well as adding traction bars. 2 conclusions are that if you go with a big tire and non VGT you need to change gear sets. Several people mentioned it in posts and I thought "yeah, maybe" but here to say TOTALLY. Truck does not lag like before and I am able to pull a fifth wheel over 12k lbs and 42' in 6th gear, I was 4th/5th with my 8k lb travel trailer. Second, traction bars made a world of difference. It didn't eliminate the strong shifts but they are bearable with the bars plus the thing absolutely hooks now. Like making my wife grab the ohsh*t handle anytime I get 50% or more throttle in it. I know many of you know this but thought I'd put it out for newbs like me to consider before they throw jack at a new turbo and then lose that loving feeling after feeling like they are dragging a boat anchor at low RPM.

I need to put traction bars on mine. I'm on the stock 18's and 33's though. I'm running the 363sx-e....pulls like a mule but does have a touch of lag in certain situations
