I bought an 09 first of this year. Took it straight to my local shop and said throw SCT on it with egr delete and 4" TB exhaust. He did so and installed me a livewire ts screen and everything ran great.

Now after seeing other tunes in other 6.4s i knew i needed some better tunning. So i got on Gearhead and ordered a few tunes. Got them installed to the screen and on the truck no problem. Take it out for a test drive amd i get DPF codes. Call them up they say that means its not an offroad tuner if the livewire screen doesnt ask if the emissions have been removed. They say they can not do it with there tuning do to the legal issues.

Now heres my big question. Am i stock with these ****ty amateur tunes without finding an older "offroad" tuner? Or am i missing something on my screen about the emissions being removed? I was very excited about the gearhead tunes.

Find a SCT 9623OR Matt will write tunes for that device. Check with Mike (bigrpower) he might have a 9623OR.

Sale the TS 5015 and find a H&S minimaxx ST or Race

Find somebody that will write tunes for the non off road SCT.

I'm kinda in the same boat as you LOL. I bought X4 with "off road" PIP tunes for my lariat. I start having RP surge and trans shifting problems Got with mike at PIP and got the tune fixed that fixed the RP surge and trans shifting problem but then I started getting real bad MPG after the tune reversion I was getting (5-8 MPG HC) nobody else writes tunes for non offroad tuners so I decided to remove it and install a old DPF-R tachyon a friend had laying on on his shelf. I know it seems I took a step backwards with installing a DPF-R on the truck but hey it runs way better MPG is back up the engine seems has 2x more power on the (DPF-R level 5 and 0 smoke) then what it had on the level 5 race file on the X4 (the truck was smokey on PIP L5). The truck has what I believe to be a blown U tube seal and is leaking oil out of the VGT. (Saving money up for a single swap). Truck still builds normal boost, normal egt's,BP no smoke etc so i'm trying to baby the truck along till I got the funds to do the SS rocker arms etc one time.

This is just my results with PIP tunes every truck reacts different.

Might want to take a look at this thread it has some injector spray pattern pics

I would love if GH and the other big name tuners could run their tunes on these but with the EPA situation the EPA is really clamping down on the diesel performance industry.

H&S is to high for what it is and i dont like the on the fly tuning when you have an adaptive learning trans.

Does this mean this shop that did my tunes is doing them illegally? Since they tuned a non off road screen with dpf off tunes? I told him i wanted an offroad tuner so i thought thats what i had. I feel like he took advantage of me not knowing much about it at the time

Are websites going to sell these new? I see lots of 3015 that they say are not street legal but dont say anything about dpf delete option.

And of course this will be for race application only fellas

Don't let the shift on the fly scare you. The trans tune that load up is meant to handle the hottest setting. I been running h&s on my truck and change power levels all the time and my trans still shifts like it did the day I installed the programmer... And that's been between 53k-114k miles and I don't drive it easy, I sled pull and race with it too

Ethier a 9623OR LW or a 3015R will work has to have the R or OR in the part #. Most sites won't have them because they are discontinued PM Mike (bigrpower) he might have a 3015R or 9623OR in stock.

I second this though the price on H&S is quite high they are excellent tuners. Pair it with gearhead MCC tunes forget about the SOF and adaptive learning dont go together theroy. Matt TCM files are tuned to match the highest setting "performance" and its safe. Best combo on the market .

Its got to do with User Defined Options

Some people who write tunes have access to being able to define their own options, IE disable EGR, DPF, Throttle Blade.

Its the same principle, if you've been in the game, back in 2009-2010 when Elite removed the throttle blade assembly with a CFM elbow, that you needed a Spartan, H&S, or an SCT that had custom tunes in it. Most people had to send IDP their Livewires the tunes with UDO's could manually be loaded into them. At that time, those tunes could NOT be emailed correctly. Its essentially a way to Define what you want the calibration to do, outside of Advantage(SCT Tuning) Software.

That being said, I only know of 3-4 guys in the industry with the ability to define those certain UDO's on the current SCT's since they were removed from Advantage a year ago.
