The spring and valve on the top of the stand pipe in the filter housing broke off. Is it safe to run the truck while waiting for a new one? When I get the new one can I just pull filter, fix it and put filter back in? I believe it is just a high pressure relief valve in case filter gets plugged?

Ive seen a bunch of these come in the shop like this. I sell them new stand pipes, but who knows how long they were running like that. You should be ok...

As far as replacement, yes you can just pull the filter and do it. If it broke out you may have to replace the whole pipe.

I've seen them cause low oil pressure. Low enough to trip the check gauge light when hot. I would not run it
