Thats just ridiculous…
And besides,
That is designed to be a dipstick adapter repair….
I guess I’ll stick with the stock adapter that came with the new pan.

I’d put some sort of thread locker on the dip stick thing. When I had the pan off my replacement engine a few years ago before it went in the truck the thing was loose. Glad it was checked.

It’s possible that nut could come loose
But I think most of leaks come from the o- ring deteriorating over time.
At that point if you attempt to tighten the nut,
It makes it leak worse …
Again,
Crappy design…
But I guess you just install it and hope
For the best
Mine didn’t start leaking until about 20 years
So if this. One lasts 20 I’ll be happy

A friend of mine just used the Moroso gasket and new pan on a 'driveway repair'. The gasket is impressive and worked great. I would not hesitate to use it myself. Here is my two cents on silicone usage. First, I realize IH used it with success on many of its engines. It has its place. It works great in the corners of gaskets and end seal applications, if used correctly. That said I have tore down many an engine where that crap has almost plugged the oil pump sump because too much product was used and it broke loose. I personally will not use it in place of a gasket. Sometimes, you have no choice and for years with the 7.3, you had no choice. Now we have a choice.

That’s great that it worked for him.
I looked at that gasket hard.
Also the Moroso oil pan.
But decided on the stock Ford pan
And stock silicone
I think if done correctly according to Ford specs
1/4” bead etc … it should be just fine.
But I hear what you’re saying about overuse of silicone.
The same thing could be said about welding
I’ve seen people over weld stuff to the point where they are distorting the base metal
Less is more
But as far as oil pans
The proper amount is proper.
I know for a fact my oil pan has never been off because I bought the truck new.
When I get around to taking it off
I will report back with some pictures
Especially the oil screen.
I have never seen anything in the oil filters.
And I have cut open quite a few over the years
