otc 303-103 flywheel holding tool... where ?

Tried for some direction on the org but got no answers. Can someone point me in the direction of where this flywheel holding tool goes? Installing melling lpop and fluidampr but not sure where to install the flywheel tool to hold it in place.

Remove the inspection cover, jam it in between the teeth of the flywheel and the block.

I shaved a short 15/16 down about a 1/2 inch and could get an impact gun on it with only the fan and shroud removed.

how did you torque to spec?

Stick the point in one of the gears, bar the motor over until it wedges.

Im just not seeing a place to wedge it? there is no space for it

Put it in between the teeth on the flywheel. Where else you gonna wedge that pointy end?

Get a big screwdriver, position the tool on the drivers side of the trans case, hold the "tool" up and then with a gloved hand or screwdriver pushing against a flywheel gear tooth push until the wedge is suitably in place.

Just remember, when you go to tighten everything youll have to wedge it on the pass side of the case.

the flywheel and Trans housing don't allow it to be jammed anywhere, this is why I think the tool I have isn't right

The way im describing it, it would. And in fact I believe that hole would be hanging down to retrieve the tool.

Torque to spec. .. :naughty: just run it back in with the impact until it's tight, you'll be fine

Ok i was definitely making this harder than it was, that was extremely easy, took the starter out and shoved the tool in there, 2.5 hours start to finish, hardest part was getting the old lpop off, everything else was really easy! thanks everyone..
