Ok guys - here is the deal. The owners of the black 7.3 pulling truck that I did some work to this spring also have an SCT tuned 6.4. A few months ago they SCT box was stolen out of the truck and he went back to whatever dealer he bought the SCT from (some truck parts reseller shop here in Ohio...) and they got him a new box and got it connected to the truck. The truck has never been right since - and especially has issues when it get warm outside - and guess what - its now warm outside....

At the advice of some guys I trust - I told him to remove the tuner from the truck and have Ford reflash the computer - I updated the SCT to the latest and greatest firmware and tuning (which was required because of the new flash anyway). He tuned his truck with it last night - but now he says he has a check engine light and a P0605 code. I haven't gotten any reports on how this affects the drive-ability or if his other issues went away (loss of power, dead pedal, etc...). So in a preemptive attempt to get this figured out - I figured I would ask on here what was going on. Is this a common code? Why the check engine light? Is there some other issue at hand here? I'm a 6.4 noob - so take it easy on me. I searched a bit and didn't really find what I was looking for - but figured I was not asking the right questions.

Thanks! Jason.

P0605 Read only Memory. Sounds like the tuner corrupted the stock file.

I take it he is running canned tunes? I would get ahold of Eric and Innovative. He should be able to get all the bugs sorted out. Ive heard of nightmares when it comes to SCT's customer support and a lot of people go to innovative to get up and running. Might as well get some killer custom tunes at the same time.

Yeah its just the standard issue SCT canned tunes. We have been talking about custom tuning a little bit - but I was trying to get all the bugs worked out of it first because we had thought the when the tuner was stolen and the shop got a new tuner to work on the computer that they did so by forcing a stock file onto the truck that may or may not have been a perfect match and possibly corrupt then. The fresh flash from Ford should have taken care of that - but if the SCT file is corrupting it then that is a whole different animal.

It sounds like I need to get ahold of Eric and get something rolling - but first I need to call and see if we did nail the drive-ability issue. I ahv

How long ago did ford do the update? If it's the current update then I don't think the tuner will work just yet till Eric releases the fix on it.

Ford did the update on Friday - the tuner didn't work until I updated to the latest SCT flash and the calibration is listed as "Now Supported" on SCT's website. Now from the little I have been reading - it seems as though no one has custom tuning for this calibration yet. Am I mistaken by my belief - because I very well could be....

I think Spartan does but doesn't use the newer flash and its possible benefits, from what I understand.
KEM I'm not sure of...
Eric@innovative is the only one that I know of that is trying to incorporate fords new flash with their tuning.

Edit- here is a link for more info and update on that

No i think your right on that, you might call eric though and see what his thoughts are on it, there is some weird stuff going on there with sct and the latest flashes, i do know that sct is using the new calibrations as part of the updates where as the others just use an old strategy basically

That's weird that its still having issues with the new flash....alll the issues I've had in the past were fixed by loading up the tune again. I was with Taylor last night, wish I would of thought to try to mess with the truck.

I too say call Eric, I've never heard of the issues that he's been dealing with.

I've been emailing back and forth with Eric a little this afternoon - hopefully we can get this solved.

Hey Josh - I think I am going to have Jeff bring the truck out the farm so I have easy access to it to fix it - do you think maybe we could try your setup on it and see if that makes a difference?

not to bring back a dead thread, but after tuning my truck last night, i also received the P0605 code.

whats the cause of it, and whats the fix?? no change in flashes or different brands of tunes, just went from race to street. gearhead tunes if that makes a difference.

no one ever posts the fix........

Stupid question here , is it possible to have Ford flash the truck to an earlier flash or is it automatic that it's gets the latest and greatest bs and then the tuners have to scramble to get a patch figured out ?

You only get the latest and greatest from Ford. You can never go backwards.
