Ok well looking for some help.

Today, running late into work. Work at Naval Base Kitsap, Bremerton WA. I get a random vehicle inspection. He noticies that my exhaust is disconnected from my stacks and turned down. I told him it was so that the cab noise wasnt that loud for when my daughter is in the back because i dont have a muffler. :)morons:) He took that and ran with it. Ranting and raving how you cant change any saftey features on a vehicle and how he is a diesel expert. And you have to have a muffler or your truck wont work right. Whatever. I ended up getting a ticket for No Muffler (RCW 46.37.390)

Some of my questions are can you get around that somehow? Being registered and licensed in MT do I have to follow all WA state rules, or any other state I May travel to? Say my window tint is good for the registered state can i get a ticket for another state while i am in that state that has a different law?

Thanks

This is true, and i have thought about that but after listening to many audio clips of mufflers i dont see much a change in noise. so will it really change the noise. Yes i would love for her to be able to sit back there and still use the stacks. but i just dont think it would be that much of a change.

You are talking about DOD rent a cop ? What are their qualifications and responsibilities when it comes to vehicle inspections? I would have told him parts are on order to reconnect the stacks.

Many states say that a turbo is a muffling device. Research that if you are going to fight the ticket. As for the stacks and your daughter, no muffler is going to make it quiet enough for her. Put a full exhaust back on is your simplest and least expensive option. Sure, you could try to quiet it down enough by daisy chaining three or four mufflers/resonators together, but what's that gonna cost?

Definition of a muffler per there book is a device containing multiple chamber designed to receive exhaust gases and quiet the noise. I heard that and then tried to plee a turbo has multiple chambers that receives exhaust gases and quiets the sound but pretty sure me pushing back already made them not care. These are DOD police. Only have jurisdiction on base. So yes i am pretty sure they would not like it if i ran it non turbo and no muffler and prove to them how loud that would be. not going to do that. would be funny though.

Yes I have been contemplating putting on a conventional exhaust just need to get rid of the stacks to someone. Looking into a turndown exhasut, no muffler. Having it disconnected and turned down quiets it enough for the baby in the back seat. Just was pissed off when this happened this morning. Cops saying there are a diesel specialist and talking like they have no clue how a diesel worked. at that point i jsut did the Yes Sir and carried on.
