Pre axle dump exhaust

Truck got in a wreck and ruined my tail pipe. I've had it axle dumped since then but can't fit the spare. Well, I'm sick of the spare in the back so I was thinking about cutting my exhaust and throwing a turn down tip in front of the axle. Not too concerned about soot, but more about heat. This is what I'm thinking to get it tucked away.

It'll be about as loud as having a stack, and your rear wheel will never stay clean. Otherwise, no problems.

Well, I'm going to turn it straight down with no other bends in the exhaust. Just didn't want to get the axle too hot, if it even could.
