Im in the process of an engine swap on my 00 lariat 6 speed. Ive always thought my engine was louder in the cab than my buddies trucks over the years with auto trannys.

Well i finally noticed I have no factory insulation on the engine side fire wall. All I have is the heat sheild up and behind the engine. None of the insulation around the master cylinder area or on the cowel above the turbo. For some reason my lariat has the XL insulation package. I'm wondering if some other lariat 6 speed owners would look to see if the lack of insulation is a 6 speed thing or mine got skipped.

There was a time when I didnt mind the noise, but you cant hear my wife or the kids going down the road. I know, I know thats a good thing :)
Thanks in advance

Yea my plan is to put the missing engine side stuff in while the engine is out, then address the interior side at some point.

I just wanted to know if the missing stuff is a 6 speed thing. Thanks

we just did an engine build/install for a customer, and added Dynamat thermal barrier on the hood, and Dynamat sound deadening on the firewall.

it's super quiet.

dynamat # 10455 & #11905's
