I just bought an 04 f350 dually for a work truck, it came without a bed so now I'm looking for a decent flatbed. I found a CM flatbed on craigslist but it's listed as a 9 foot bed, will this work for a NON-C&C truck? I'm new to the whole flatbed game so I'm not sure if they're universal and unsure of what length to get. Here's a link to the one I'm looking at http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/pts/4814808393.html
Any help on this would be appreciated, I'm trying to get something fairly quick so I can start using the truck. I don't really want something new, they're priced a little too high for me for this truck.

That bed will work. A 9' long flat bed is standard.

You will have to be able to do some fabrication to mount it up. The frame on the truck has a rise above the axles, and the bed frame has a flat frame.

We use square tubing to run across the truck frame for the bed frame to sit on.

I figure for the price I can make something work to mount it, just wasn't sure if the 9 foot length would look goofy and out of proportion.

The truck has a 6" lift and 35s, once I get a bed on it I'll see how it tows. The lift might be coming off in the near future.

On the CM website it lists an 8' 6" bed and a 9' 4" bed if I'm not mistaken. I just wonder if that extra 10" hanging off the back would look weird, I plan to put boxes on the side to hide the frame.

Yea, beds are rarely exactly to the foot, from my experience.
If you don't mind build your own hitch/rollpan/trim piece, it could turn out decent.
I could measure the flatbed/frames I've got tomorrow, give you an idea. Ones a 9' scott, the other is 8'4" something or other. Both are on a pickup frame, if you'd like, I'll take some pics.

The 9' bed has a custom trim piece, the 8' bed was never trimmed, just had a piece of aluminum covering the frame. Looked like sh|t, but that's how we bought it, lol.

I run 9 or 9.5s for my flatbed. The extend equal to factory receiver Hitch that Way. I like the extra room as well.

Normal bed for a 8' long box is usually 8' to 8'6". 9' bed wouldn't look weird but Its normally made for a C&C. You may have some problems with a goose neck depending on where the ball is mounted. They are suppose to be like 4" forward from the rear axle to give some steer weight. If the bed was made for a C&C with a longer wheelbase, the gooseneck may be placed farther back and may be centered or behind your axle which would be a problem

The gooseneck placement had crossed my mind, I'll have a transfer tank and toolbox at the front of the bed so maybe it wouldn't be bad to have the ball a few inches further back

Just as long as the hitch is at least a little bit forward of your axle. If it is dead centered or behind, I would absolutely not be pulling a goose neck with much weight until you get something figured out.

Pics of the srw, with an 8'4" bed
Couldn't get a good pic of the trapdoor, as it's frozen down, lol.
The ball is a couple of inches forward of the axle on both trucks.

I had to modify the trapdoor on the 9' bed, as it was originally built for a c&c truck, basically about 4", as described above.
