so I just got a new radio and the PO has really made a mess of the wires there... anyways, after hookin up the speaker wires as best i could, the only ones that work are the left front and rear, and i can't find the wires for the right side... there's also four wires that i can't figure out where they run... that being said, anyone know what colors the wires are for all the speakers???

oh boy if you pull the door panels off check the wire colors on the speakers along with the rear speakers and try to match them up.. i hate when ppl hack **** together all my trucks all have adapters so factory harness never gets touched

You may need to see if the truck had the factory "Premium Sound" option. With this option, there is an amplifier mounted up by the accelerator pedal under the dash. It has it's own separate harness. Usually when putting in an aftermarket head unit, you would remove the amp and its harness and re-route the remaining factory harness back up to the radio opening (at this point it would be the same as a factory truck without the premium sound and you can use the readily available pigtails to adapt the head unit to the factory harness). Cheers!

There are ready made adaptor harnesses for adding aftermarket stereos to trucks with Premium Sound, they do bypass the factory amp. Try Crutchfields among others.

The local audio shop here carries a ready made harness for the Premium sound and it does NOT bypass the factory amp. Though they have told me when I upgrade my speakers I will get better sound if I do bypass the amp.
