I can't find the thread right now, but imelmo's zombie killer truck was an 03 2wd and they converted it to 05+ 4wd. Might contact him.

I know the coil buckets are different on the 05+ 2wd and 4wd, the frame mount is the same between the two, just move holes.

Thanks! I have found a few threads and sent out some PMs. just need to decide if I want to pull the trigger or not.

Have any of you guys went from 2wd to 4x4? I am seriously considering turning mine into an overlanding rig.

i would seriously consider doing an 05+ front end-way better ride, way better turning radius, wider axle.

You will need the following parts off an 05+ 4x4:

pitman arm,
track bar,
track bar bracket,
coil buckets,
coil springs,
front drive shaft,
front axle complete with drag link,
radius arms,

Pm gracing on here. He's who did my conversion. Converted '03 2wd long bed to 4wd shorty using '05 suspension/axles. Came out really good and he said it was pretty simple other than the fuel tank due to limited space. We ended up using a 6.7 tank but you could always put a tank in the bed too.

Thanks for the info. If I decide to pull the trigger, I would definitely go with 05+ axles. From what I've read its not a super hard swap.

My wife and I have decided that we want to do more traveling in the next few years, so I think a RCSB 6.0 would be a pretty cool rig to convert to do some overlanding.

Yeah, I am starting to lean towards another XJ for the overlanding. a rcsb superduty rig would be cool, but I am afraid that the width and weight would be problematic in the long run.

I used dupli color vinyl & fabric spray to do all the plastic, then got suede at the fabric store to do the headliner.

Somewhere down in Texas..
For sure. Who cares if another guy has one that's lowered? They all need to sit lower...they look like hell lifted, unless you are doing like a 6" lift and 27's to keep it proportional. If you are running those 420's, it needs to sit just below stock. If I built one, stock 250 height in the rear, and a 2" level in the front with platinum 20's and 275/60 michelins. I think building one with as OE outer appearance as possible would be pretty slick. Definitely get some head scratches.

With that said..if mud stomper could pull 2" front and rear out of that thing, it would be spot on.

With my truck I usually consider it the lowest diesel truck around this area, but evidently not. Yesterday at the drive thru a black OBS chevy cclb diesel dually was behind me, think it had 22.5s and it was lower than mine lol
