Building a custom 3 - link rear suspension and ditching the leaf springs. 2008 f250. Rize industry front lift set at 10.5". I'm looking for any info anyone has about the coilovers found on the rear of the sweet 500 series lift that Oneupoffroad makes. Primarily spring rates, valving, bump stop options, anything at this point.

So you want someone that spent the cash on an OUO setup, to give you info to help you copy OUO's stuff?...

Build your 3 link, set up your shock angles, measure bump and droop lengths, corner scale it, call shock company of choice with the info.

Outstanding response to someone asking a question.

Why anyone ask for tips and advice for free here when there are companies that will charge money to do the work for you...?

What the hell was the point of your response? Sounds like the guy is building his own setup, not setting up a factory to sell someone else's design.

Garrett, thanks. That is the plan as of now but before i place the coilover order im all ears. I'll be scaling each corner with a friend's race car scales. And for the record, this is a one - time build just for my personal truck. Absolutely no desire to copy anyone's hard work and design to sell it like some companies do. It's all about being able to look back at it and say to yourself "I built that." Nothing comes closer than that feeling. Not like any other truck ive had which is like "yeah, I built it, but really I just bolted a bunch of parts onto it.

When you need to place to coilover order if you have all the right info you can tell it to the company and they will tell you what you need. Not really anything else you can do besides guess and get close then change from there.

I was an ass with that response. But he's basically asking how he can copy a legitimate businesses coilover specs. Whether he's setting up a business or building for his own use, its still copying.

Garrett gave the right answer to the question, by telling him how to go about it without just straight out copying someone else's stuff. I probably should've went that route in retrospect.

But, while we're at it, what the hell was the point of your response?

Maybe you should stick to browsing the Vendor section if DIY projects are so offensive to you.

I seen some people making their own home made winch bumpers, and doing their own body work on here. Maybe you should go be an ass to them too...

I honestly don't know exactly what valving is in my coilovers. I do have a good idea what valving is in my shocks. I even helped valve both setups...LOL

Spring rates are important but not near as important as valving. I doubt anyone who has a OUO kit even knows what kind of valving is in their coilovers. But what I can tell you is it will either make your truck drive like complete garbage or real nice.

I do know that the valving you get from calling up a shock manufacturer and expecting them to get it right most likely won't happen. It probably won't be bad, but I doubt it will be great either.

One thing you could do if you are fabricating a kit for yourself is run the coilovers with very little valving and then pick up a set of bypass shocks....then tune it yourself. Otherwise, it isn't a whole lot of fun pulling a set of coilovers apart over and over to get the valving correct. Then remember that the majority of your ride is controlled by the front suspension, even if I tighten up my bypasses and make it ride stiff in the rear, it still rides better than a truck with a set of fixed length traction bars on the back...LOL So really, it may not make much of a difference overall....
