Recon Torque converters ?

Hi I'm wondering if anyone know how Recon torque converters hold up ? the dealer ( ford) is gonna put one in for me and said it will hold up .. 2010 f350 6.4 cclb Spartan tuned , air raid intake ,Dpf egr delete , 37" tires . Tend to step on it sometimes . 98,000 km on truck and direct clutch plates just went on it . So question is should I put the recon torque converter in ? .. My first post

Well first welcome to the army. I've never heard of recon? What about the dpc or precision convertors.

Ya either have I , been trying to google it a bit . I find some good talk on it but also some bad talk . I would like to get. A good one since I'm going to keep my truck for awhile and hopes to do more power upgrades in the future . But the ford mechanic sounded pretty confident with it and I feel like I'm getting a decent deal through them with the whole issue . But hoping some of the guys with power have heard of them before I go through with it. I could probably pull out by Monday morning and order a well known torque converter . This recon one. They are charging $900 CDN

Honestly if it were mine and I had the funds I'd go with dpc or precision. They are well known in high HP trucks. This is just my opinion of course.

Transtar carries them I would trust a stock converter more than the recon. We use them on our 12/12 warranty transmission builds stock power apps I wouldn't go beyond that.

Thanks ncollins64 I know I hate cheaping out but with two kids both under two and the wife not working. My money goes else where right now . Trying to take the easy route,but if I get enough negative feed back Ill probably pull the pin Monday morning and do it right .

I know how you feel. I'd just hate to see you do something then it let you down again. May could contact mike at no limit for some dpc pricing or Jared with RCD. Awesome guys to deal with.

I wouldn't chance it, probably end up costing you more in the long run.
If anything id put a stock one back in if you can't swing a dpc converter

Good decision. I would feel comfortable with a torque converter that's not very well known. You can always look around for a slightly used stock converter or used aftermarket.

Ya I wouldn't chance the Recon at all. I put a convertor that was less than par in a few years back and chewed it up in less than three months. And that was said to be as strong as the suncoast convertors. I have had a DPC convertor for quite a long time now with perfect success.

I bought mine from River City Diesel! They even give a discount for being a member of this forum! There triple disk converters are very popular in high HP trucks and im very confident in mine. Cheaper to do it right the first time, Good luck!
