Remote oil cooler

Has anyone ever removed the big cylinder style oil cooler and replaced it with an external remote oil cooler? Wondering if it would be worth it to use the original ports to go to an oil cooler and a coolant filter.

Not really worth it. Air to fluid cooling is nowhere near as efficient as fluid to fluid.

It's worked fine for the couple million 7.3s that were produced. Spend your money/time else where.
