It was mandated by the government to take place on all 09 model vehicles.

I coulda swore it was all vehicles made in 08 which is why some of the early build date trucks came without them. Mines a job one though, and has the stupid sensors. After a while you get used to the light.

My truck is a jan 08 build and has them They are a pita. Only reason they are still on my truck is that the light being on would annoy me

going through the same thing. My truck is a job 1 2008 and I don't have tpms. My dad has a 5.4 job 3 I think and his has the sensors. We both put aftermarket rims on and he had the local tire shop put his on. They installed new sensors since they said that they couldn't swap his over and now they can't reprogram them. I tried the reprogramming sequence on it with the little fob and got nowhere.

Did the tire shop use sensors that are compatible with the Ford TPMS system? Maybe aftermarket sensors won't communicate with the Ford system?

Maybe he bought a different size wheel? The sensors in my wheels are band type. Meaning they are held onto the wheel with what looks like a big stainless steel hose clamp. Not the valve stem type that Ford is using now.

The TPMS came out on the job 2 2008 trucks. They were originally mounted with a band in the middle of the rim. The sensor can be reused, the original band is not reusable. You can buy new bands that look like GIANT band clamps.

You have to reprogram the sensors a certain way to get them to sync to the TMPS, I do not know if the key fob is the one that will program new senors to the truck or just reset the sensors to the truck.

I honestly don't know what kind of sensors they put in. I told my dad to tell them to just get new bands and swap them. I was away at college at the time so I could't get involved. They tried to program the sensors to the truck and when we picked it up they said they couldn't do it idk. would that hs thing disable the tpms on a gas job as well? he's tired of throwing money at it.

take them off and put on your new rims. you can buy the band on ebay or napa. napa is a lot more money. the band are just big hose clamps. cut old bands and pop off old sensors and cradle they mount in. remount on new rims and be done with it.

when I get time to mess with it i'll dismount the tires and put the factory sensors in, maybe throw the aftermarket ones back at the little tire shop that messed it up to begin with
