I found my X3 from my 6.0 days in a box in the garage and decided to unlock it and get it ready to sell on craigslist. When I went to update the firmware it said it was 13-14 6.7 capable.

Instead of selling this and buying a X4, can I use the X3 and buy custom tunes instead?

You can. They aren't reliable in my opinion as they are now obsolete. But yes you can get tunes on it. Let me know if I can help you out.
