Sensor Interelation

Hey guys, I am wondering how the back pressure sensor works with the ECM and other components for controlling how the engine runs.

My main question is how would a bad or faulty EBP sensor manifest itself? i.e. would it cause the VGT actuator to move the vanes and attempt to create more back pressure?

Any info would be very much appreciated.
