******* shift on the fly switch broken?

Installing a shift on the fly kit on my buddies truck. He said he bought it off No Limit. It's supposed to have 5 stages, however this knob turns 10 times.

Thoughts? Is it broken or are they all like that? If so, how do you tell which tune you're in?

Did he disassemble the switch at all? Sounds like the locking washer was either lost or it wasn't included in the switch when it was originally assembled.
