My maryland performance single kit just came in. Its a daily driver, and little towing. I went with the s366 bolt up kit. No uppipes or manifolds. So im not pulling the cab just yet. And im all stock but for mini max and egr delete. Anyways, i could use some help. Any advise on installing it and what to do. Plus how this set up is!! Thanks guys. Just joined the site

First off welcome to the forum!!:grouphug: This site is a real help when you need help with your truck. Ok.

So you got the s366? Double batmo or just cast wheel?

The kit is pretty simple but you will be having trouble with the down pipe. Yes this can be done with cab on but it will take a little more time because of the down pipe.

Remove stuff that will get in your way and tear into it. Removing the bolts off the manifold/turbo will be alittle pain but it's doable
.

The oil feel line to the twins you need to keep because this will be used later on:thumbup:

Also when putting the single on, do it in pieces and it will be a lot simpler.

I personally have the s472 and will never ever tow with it but I heard the s366 is a nice tow single.

Always remember though that a single will never compare to twins. There's gonna be some lag so you need to keep your eye on egts when you tow.

Custom tuning will wake the truck up more and will help with spooling. I personally recommend Gearhead tunning.

Have fun and if you need help drop me a PM:thumbup:

Thanks for the help! I guess i can say im a bit nervous on doing it myself. Im also nervous about going through with it!! Ive read and researched mixed things. Some say spool up is like stock if not better and some say it lags. Il for sure get gear head tuning. I already decided. Just worried on driveability. Once i do it i wont go back. Any mpg gains? I was also hoping a 366 guy would chime in. But anything helps!!

Sub'd for info. Been wondering same questions as far as mpg's, towing egt's, more power then stock chargers, and all around drivability.

Let me know how install goes. I might do studs while I'm at it if I decide to go this route.

its going to be laggier for sure, but how bad I dk,

As far as getting the stock turbos out (which is going to be the hard part) you will need a good high quality 15mm socket to take the turbo hold down bolts out, and they are tight as hell, a long breaker bar and a cheater pipe will probably be in order.

Also a good high quality 10mm socket to get the bolts loose on the uppipes on the turbos.

As Dustin said, you really need high quality 6 point and 12 point sockets. You don't want to strip and up pipe or turbo hold down bolt. A 366 is a very streetable charger on stock fuel. It's going to be laggier than stock chargers, but not horrible. You'll need customs tunes with a later torque converter lockup. If you don't have late lock tunes, it's going to lock up at 45 and you'll be smoking the road out. You can still tow moderately with a 66. Only thing I towed with mine was a bronco and it did fine as long as I watched the egts up hills. I'd recommend a muffler or resonator as single turbo 6.4s are loud.

Im going with gear head tunes enless someone knows better. I was thinking of dropping to a 62mm turbo? I read somewhere thats the "street setup". Then again i should run the 66 because i wont know until i do. What ive seen were people loved it and didnt complain about lag too much. Im just nervous! Thanks for the few tips, il definatley need them!!

I'm not sure what the allure of going to a 62 would be... You'll lose power from the stock turbos, and it would be Laggier.

So did you just buy a single turbo kit without asking a single question before hand?

Good tools always equals success, you will need to bring a big bag of patience as well as some of the bolts are a pita. Never ran a single myself as my elevation won't allow with towing but good luck. What are your goals in doing the single?

He has some simple questions regarding a single turbo setup. No need to put him on blast and criticize him. If you can't contribute to the thread, then simply don't post.

I'm happy to answer any and all questions you have regarding the single turbo setup even though we've already spoken quite a bit!

When putting the turbo on put the exhaust housing on first the center section then compressor housing then connect the in pipe while it's loose and then line up all of the feed and drain lines and tighten

It won't be a tow monster so just know that, but it will be faster, sound more bawlsy, and have lower over all EGT's. Spool up under normal driving will be slower as well as cruising boost # 's. However thats not the same story under full throttle, in my experience the spool up at WOT is just as fast or faster than the stock turbos ( at sea level at least ). I think you'll be happy with the end result, I'll make a few suggestions for you though. I'd add a wastegate to keep boost at WOT at 50 psi or under, and also upgrade your air intake elbow to a larger 4" all the way to the turbo. Something like Elite or No Limit have. You'll be surprised how much better it runs with just that.

Not to derail your thread op, but there are just so many single thread, don't want to get chewed.

How's your mpg with the single? I drive a 6.0 work truck, will the 6.4 with a single have the same road manners? Any other upgrades beside the turbo and kit?

I get 17.5-18 mixed driving, only other mods other than the basics ( intake, exhaust and tuner ) are an AFE intercooler, ported intake manifold, 6.0 manifolds, cold side pipe.
