Spraying nitrous without a nitrous tune?

How risky is it? Does the tuning just keep the turbo from over spinning? I plan to pull my truck next week and I'd like to run looney wild tune and 0.083 jet.

Chris B at TSD told me they run normal tunes for any truck spraying nitrous. That being said he wrote me a tune for 1 degree less timing that I've yet to try.

Think of a power curve (pressure spike) that starts low and travels upward and peaks then drops down like a nice bell curve.

1) Diesel is a slow burning fuel and a "soft and slow" propagation like the curve on the right.
2) Now add nitrous and the combination will "flash" (burn) at a much quicker rate and higher "explosive" pressures like the curve on the left.

Peak cylinder pressure, peak power from fuel is moved to the left which happens "sooner" (advancing the timing) so the "timing" that you programmed for fuel only is altered.

Picture is just an example to graphically show the difference.
