This is how a motor build begins

My 08 has 174,000 on it and it was pushing some coolant. The high pressure fuel pump was starting to act up so we decided to pull it in a couple of weeks ago and fix it. When we were cleaning up the block we noticed a cylinder with some scoring and that piston sitting in the bore funny. Can't believe this thing was still running every day...

Wow. Like you said I am amazed that it still ran. I am surprised that the pieces that broke off didn't cause issues when it broke off.

I can't believe it never hung the piston in the bore.
Is the cyl out of round now?

im definitely doing pistons on my build. See too many piston issues in these. :fustrate:
