A friend of my son has an 08/6'4ltr. He is running the H&S canned tunes. He has his DPF still on. The tune he runs is tuned for the dpf to be on. He threw a code and it say "diesel particulate filter DPF restricted, forced limited power" He is gong to delete his DPF in about 2 weeks. Is this ok to drive untill he deletes it?

Can ya be a little more detailed? If it isn't safe to drive it, then I am sure he will park it. But what is the worse case senario?

What are the DTC's? He may only have to change out a sensor to get it running correctly again. If the DPF is buggered, and the truck is essentially in a limp mod. Prolonged driving may or may not cause a no start condition. If the truck is continually trying to regen it's not good for the engine.

Either way. Fix it first.

:whs:

He could try to return to stock and let it go through a self induced regen. The filter may just be too clogged from running a higher horse tune.

If that doesnt work, Id return to stock and take it in to Ford if its still under warranty to see if there any underlying problems.

On edit....if he does take it in, he should make sure there is no black soot residue in the stock exhaust. That would be a dead give away that its been tuned.

Thanks, I believe we have it worked out now. He didn't tell me he was overseas when he wrote me. I am headed home from Israel now I will beat him home. I am changing my delete and exhaust from 4" to 5". He is getting the DPF delete I am running right now. I wouldn't have even ask had he told me he wasn't home and the truck was parked. But thanks guys. It was good info anyway.
