I bought a 2000 CCLWB 4WD with a busted but running 7.3 back in June.
When I got there in the dark and got it loaded I realized it was 2wd.
No problem, $1600 later it's on a trailer. The idea was to part or fix and flip. Somewhere along the way I started missing the quiet cab and none rattling body parts of an SD so I decided to keep it and see if I could build what I want for cheap and have some fun along the way. The goal is to drive it to TS 2014.

Sold the...
Bed $400
Grill Guard $300
Rear bumper $200
so now I'm in the truck for $700

Bought a Bed for $150, a fender for $125 and traded some work for a SWB 4wd chassis with T-case and front axle plus the swb fuel tank.

Last week I chopped the frame and drive shaft.

And mounted the tank and bed.
Had to IV the fuel from the LWB tank LOL

Then started in on the engine swap.

Using a OBS 7.3 so everything needs swapped. Everyone I talked to says the front covers need swapped to but after talking with Caylon (1badpsd) we couldn't think of a single reason why, so i'm going to wing it and find out.
Doing a few upgrades along the way.
EBPV Gutted
RR fuel
Oil cooler rebuild

Ordered headlights yesterday.

More pics to document the entire build coming as soon as I get the engine done. Next up 4wd conversion.

what was wrong with the SD motor?

I'll get some pics when I get a chance. Busted block behind the starter. Huge hole from ice. The PO live in Tulsa, watee pump started leaking so he just kept filling it with water. It busted around last Christmas. He knew it was trashed so he kept driving it without anything 7 miles 1 one way to work every day til june when he sold it to pay for a baby. :ford:

The only reason I can think of "needing" the SD front cover is because the bolts for the fuel bowl go through it. If you are using the SD fuel system it is pretty easy to make a bracket to mount the fuel filter.

Never thought of that but I'm doing a remote.

Looking good so far Joe. Scary part is you will be into the entire truck all built up for less than the typical 6leaker owner spends for a shop to stud it.

You can swap the hpop reservoir over to the sd one without changing the front cover. It will bolt right up.
