Just got back into a 6.4 and am getting ready to do a build. I would like to do a single 68 or 72 but what is the reality of the situation? I live at almost 5000ft elevation and tow over the mountain (10,000+) a few times a year. Is it still possible to run a single in this situation? Shooting for 700ish Hp.

Pretty sure it won't work real well. It'll be stupid smokey even with a small tune I would think.

Why not just do tow power+ turbos/high power juniors or something similar from one of the vendors? Not much more over a single kit. They will hit a lot harder/faster when playing on the street and you can tow anywhere with them at 700hp. Would be better all around IMO.

Any reason why you're wanting to do a single?? An elite or RCD upgraded charger should get you to 700, or alteast max out what your stock fuel system will dish out.

Edit - Mega tree'd lol

The price of Max powers put those out of the question. I've considered the industrial turbo setup and the tow powers. but I like the results of the single, and when compared to the price of the factory setup I like the single that much more. I'm not exactly sure on it all just yet. Just tossing the idea around. I may just delete it and call it a day.

I would put a 71mm atmosphere on it. $1300 and be done. 650+ all day long and super cool egts. Awesome tow rig.

I can voucher for that....recently grossed a little over 30k in mountains (only up to 4400 ft), but I never saw 1200 EGTs. Of course I was running "No Power" on my H&S. I did get some warm oil...up to 216 once.

I have seen singles do wonders at 6000ft or so the past two years. LOL It would be smokey and need nitrous to light it. Watch the sled pull of 2012, the chevy that backfires trying to light his.
